Abstracting Still Life

Course Details

Explore how to translate three-dimensional space and form into the flat space of paper or canvas in this observation- based class with artist Eugenie Vronskaya. Working from still life, the model and organic forms, you'll build your own visual vocabulary through formal exercises in colour, shape, rhythm, texture, line and composition, exploring mark-making across a variety of materials. Drawing on historical and contemporary artists, the sessions consider how modernist thinking continues to shape abstraction today. Best suited to those with some prior experience, or anyone keen to push beyond familiar approaches.
